Thank you for articulating this so well. I couldn't bring myself to get as "worked up" about this as some of my fellow believers, and I was having a hard time putting into words why, exactly, it didn't bother me so much! May I put a link to your blog on mine? Thanks--

By all means post any of these blogs anywhere you wish. I am grateful if any of this helps anyone think more clearly and live more wisely.

Too bad we Christians can't get as worked up about loving each other deeply as we can about "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays"!

John I couldnt agree more, the real story here is churches being closed on the Lords
Day which I cant even express in words Im so upset about it. Talk about giving the enemy all the ammunition he needs to malign the Evangelical Christian church in this country! I can just see non believers looking at these closing and scoffing. Shame shame on any believing church closing on the Lords Day!!!

Post Christmas reflection:

I was dismayed to hear large churches in national evening news interviews cooing about the reason for cancelling worship on December 25: "Just imagine all those families sitting around the tree together having family time!" Isn't that what unbelievers and many believers do every Sunday, just not with a Christmas tree but in a boat or on the beach or playing sports, etc.? Is that all we have to say to our nonChristian culture? Is corporate Christian worship really so meaningless and useless that it can be so easily replaced? If corporate worship is a hinderance to quality family time, maybe we should cancel more often.

I am embarrassed for the Evangelical community, a part of which I surely am.
