I wrote a booklet that has been given to thousands of married couples, one chapter on submission is here.....

The other chapter that deals with this issue from the text is on what the headship of Christ in a marriage and the role of the husband truly is.

I am grieved over the state of marriage in the church of Jesus. Glad you are addressing this. Hope this lends some light.

I realize that this is only part one, but I am already wondering, in light of what you have written, what is the nature of the relationship (particularly on a practical level) between the husband and a wife? The CCB translation of the key verse in Ephesians is thought provoking, and on a gut level I am attracted to it, but I am not sure what its implications are for how we understand the marriage relationship. If I was to try to explain to someone why this passage does not endorse typical male headship, I am not sure what I would say, even though I do understand the idea that Jesus has gathered "into himself every form of human love and lives the diversity of all human existence."

Finally, I am trying to simplify my life, by getting rid of things, but now, dangit, I am going to have to get that translation you mentioned. :-)

Thank you very much for the html links in your comment above.

I enjoyed and benefitted from reading your good Biblical points.

    Thanks John.
One of the best series I have heard on this subject is "God, the Gospel and Your Marriage (MP3 Series) by Art Azurdia"
